The inheritance
The framework at the root of this method was not mine. It was already winning inside American agencies, producing rankings for real firms in real markets, when a partner handed it to me with a single instruction, replicate it.
Most people would have replicated it and stopped. Replication is where I started. If a framework works, the interesting questions are why it works, where it breaks, and what it becomes when you push it past the point its authors stopped at.
The year of research
- The definitive playbook, studied cover to cover. I bought the industry's leading local search manual from one of its most respected experts, not to follow it blindly, but to test my inherited framework against the deepest published thinking in the field.
- The AI platforms, tested against real work. Paige AI. OTTO by Search Atlas. And dozens of other tools, platforms and systems, each one run against live client scenarios rather than demo data.
- Most of it discarded. The majority of what the industry sells did not survive contact with real client work. What stayed in the toolkit earned its place, and what did not was dropped without sentiment.
- Every finding folded back into the framework. The inherited structure was rebuilt joint by joint, what held was kept, what bent was reinforced, what broke was replaced.
A year spent reading the grain
A year of research, tested on a site built from a blank folder.
The stress test
Theory that has never carried weight is decoration. So the refined method got the hardest test available, a complete thirty page agency site built from a blank folder, full silo architecture, every page with a defined job, every internal link documented with its reason, no template, no inherited content, nothing to hide behind.
The build surfaced what only building surfaces. Where the structure wanted to sprawl. Where honest numbers beat adjectives. Where restraint, the discipline of what to leave out, mattered more than any feature. All of it went back into the map.
Then it got its name
In origami, a crease pattern is the complete map of every fold a model needs, drawn before folding begins. That is what survived the year, a map that decides the whole structure before the first crease is made. It is written up in full on the method page, and it has been carrying client work across three countries since.
What this proves. The method was earned, tested and refined before it was ever sold. Nothing here runs on theory.
A method you have not run yourself is just someone else’s opinion.
